The Crow 1994 director Alex Proyas is enjoying watching the new reboot turn out to be a critical failure and box office bomb
Alex Proyas, of the 1994 classic The Crowd (see it HERE), he was never happy with the idea that Snow White and the Huntsman The director Rupert Sanders was to tell a new version of the story of the Irish League The Crowd with his recent reboot – and Proyas didn’t keep his feelings about the project to himself, taking every opportunity to mock and bash him on social media. The Crowd Reboot made its way out worldwide last weekend to critical failure and box office bomb, giving Proyas more opportunities to have fun at the film’s expense on social media.
And ahead of the reboot’s release, Proyas shared a screenshot of The Guardian’s review, which called the film “absolutely awful”. Later, he said, “Wow. The reviews are brutal.” And when the box office numbers came in, revealing that the new The Crowd it only had a $4.6 million opening weekend, Proyas said, “The box office is blood.” he said, “I thought the remake was a cynical money grab. There doesn’t seem to be much money to be had.” he and The Crowd ’94 screenwriter David J. Schow both shared an image saying they were “Marked safe from view crow 2024 today.” Proyas then shared a link to a negative review of the reboot on YouTube, commenting, “I love how angry this is (reviewer). Is that “thumbs down”? Maybe they can lend their DCPs to film schools for classes on how NOT to film? They certainly won’t need the theaters after next weekend.” He finished with a laughing emoji. Sharing a negative review in Spanish, Proyas asked, ““Gigantesque Insult!”? Is that good?” Again with a laughing emoji. In his latest post, he shared a review that called Reboot the worst movie of the year and said, “The review we were all waiting for. It’s a bit like flogging a dead horse now so I think I’ll stop after this… until another funny one comes along!” So it’s safe to say that Proyas is enjoying the failure of the reboot.
We used to refer to this project as a remake before, but Lionsgate recently revealed that this is not a remake, but a new adaptation of the source material, the comic book series created by James O’Barr. Sanders directed this version of it The Crowd from a script by Oscar nominee Zach Baylin (King Richard). The film is produced by Victor Hadida, Molly Hassell, John Jencks, and Edward R. Pressman. Dan Farah serves as executive producer. Here’s the summary: Soulmates Eric (Bill Skarsgard) and Shelly (FKA’s cousins) are brutally murdered when they are confronted by demons from her past. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to exact ruthless revenge on their survivors, crossing the worlds of the living and the dead to right the wrongs.
Bill Skarsgård (A boy who kills the world) and singer FKA Twigs with Danny Huston (Yellowstone), who plays the main villain, as well as David Bowles (Brothers), Isabella Wei (1899), Laura Birn (Walk among the Tombstones), Sami Bouajila (The Bouncer), and Jordan Bolger (Peaky Blinders).
Based on the first version of the comic book series created by James O’Barr The Crowd released in 1994. After the production of three sequels (each about a different resurrected character), redux was announced for the first time in late 2008 … then it was to make a long journey through development hell. Screenwriters came and went, scripts were written and scrapped, studios went bankrupt, and directors like Stephen Norrington, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, Corin Hardy, and Francisco Javier Gutiérrez were all involved along the way. Actors in the lead role during the long development period included Bradley Cooper, Mark Wahlberg, Tom Hiddleston, Luke Evans, Jason Momoa, and Jack Huston.
