The spooky season is almost here, and with it comes a fresh batch of horror movies to frighten and delight audiences.
We have waited long enough, children of the night! It’s time to make music. Halloween will be upon us before we know it, and that means streamers and theaters alike will soon be packed with — to quote Diondre Cole — “spirited, kooky, ooky, soupy, loopy, it’s the great pumpkin , Snoopy!” Legacy sequels, family-friendly horror flicks, premium creature features, gnarly slashers, and even a Christmas horror film have graced our screens in the next two months leading up to the big day. Here are all the big horror movies coming out in September and October 2024.

If you need more convincing, enter Alexandre Aja, director of the amazing alligator creature feature Crawland a story about a mother and her twin sons who are literally tied with ropes to stay connected and safe from the evil spirits that haunt them — until the bonds begin to come undone. Audiences can expect an emotional horror film that is full of fun, and a dog that will make it safe and sound until the end of the story.

Seconds are serving Netflix with Platform 2the sequel to the massive 2020 Spanish horror film about a futuristic vertical prison where people who aren’t on high floors fight to eat scraps — or anything. The sequel introduces a new leader The Platform who imposes their harsh rule and punishment. A new resident confronting the prison’s feeding system is rising up against them. It looks like the new movie is all about cannibalism, so expect more fun in this new installment.
V/H/S/Around

The V/H/S The franchise is back with a seventh film, this time with six new scary stories with a sci-fi twist. The anthology series has always prided itself on tapping the inspiring voices of horror and introducing some of the genre’s biggest filmmakers of tomorrow. This time we have a directorial debut Hill House Gambling starring Kate Siegel, from a script by horror master Mike Flanagan. Justin Long and his brother Christian Long write and direct an episode, and Judge Martinez of the Radio Silence collective returns to lead a new segment after the first has been reserved V/H/S.
